Bryan
Allan (“Pink E”) Collins was a
rising star and well-respected student leader at Tennessee State
University. The Bryan A. Collins Scholarship was created
in his memory to provide scholarship grants to undergraduate
students of exceptional promise.
Bryan received his Bachelor's degree in Biology
and Chemistry from Tennessee State University in May 2005. At the time of his passing, he was enrolled as a graduate student
in the Masters program in physical therapy and was anxiously
looking forward to commencing his doctoral studies.
On campus, he was an extremely proud member
and leader in the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He was very
active and contributed to its success. He served on the
Civic Committee, the Community Service Committee and help set
strategic direction as a Board Member of the fraternity. It was because
of his close relationships and camaraderie with his fraternity brothers
that Bryan picked up the
nickname "Pink E."
In addition to his education achievements,
Bryan distinguished himself and found much success outside the
classroom. He was voted Mr. Tennessee State first runner-up,
involved in the Student Union Board of Governors, was a founding
member of the Generation of Educated Men and worked
closely with the Tennessee State University dean of admissions and
records. He was a bright, popular, personable and
extremely well-liked by both students and faculty.
He was born on January 23, 1981 to Francine
and Alan Collins in Harvey, Illinois. He grew up as
a devoted son with a glowing smile, and easy laugh that exuded a
warmth that immediately enveloped everyone with whom he came
into contact. Bryan found comfort and relaxation in sports,
music, movies, video games, friends, good parties and just
spending time with his family relaxing at home.
Bryan accepted Jesus Christ at an early age
while at TM Camp in Zainesville, Ohio. He was a member of
Calvary Christian Ministries in Powder Springs, Georgia.
The Bryan A. Collins Scholarship was created
at Tennessee State University in his memory to provide scholarship grants to undergraduate
students of exceptional promise demonstrating the values that
Bryan embraced most -- being great
with people, being great at academics, and being great in extra-curricular
leadership activities.
In addition, the
BryanACollins.com website has been also been established to eternally
memorialize his life for his family, friends and future recipients
of his scholarship grant.
